Overall 28% of men and 26% of women in paid employment are considering changing organisations in the next 12 months.

Of those in paid employment, more men than women in each age group (from 14-49) are considering changing organisations in the next 12 months.  More than twice as many young men (44% of men 14-24 years old) are looking at changing organisations than older men (20% of men aged 50+).

Michael Duncan, Industry Director – Agencies, Roy Morgan Research, says:

“Quality staff have always been critical to the success of any organisation and the retention of these key personnel becomes even more important when in a difficult economy, where companies are trying to survive with lower cost bases.

“With 27% of paid employees considering changing organisations in the next year, companies will need to ensure they can provide the kind of flexibility and employment packages key staff want. This means there has never been a more important time to really understand employees as people – their values, aspirations and activities. Men are different to women, people working in different industries and locations have different needs.”
