Following the overall popularity of Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel, other channels which Young Australians watch changes depending on age. Children 6-9 years old choose Cartoon Network (25%) and Boomerang (17%) while older children (10-13 year olds) watch Fox8 (26%) which is slightly more popular than the Disney Channel (25%).

“Both Nickelodeon and Disney have a broad appeal amongst Young Australians aged 6 to 13, whereas the cartoon dominated programming of Cartoon Network and Boomerang appeal is much stronger with children 6-9. FOX8 is more specifically targeted to 16-39’s but they maintain a high appeal amongst 10-13 year olds.
“The importance of these channels remains very significant to the Pay TV operators. They provide an excellent advertising revenue stream and just as importantly a key reason for many parents to become Pay TV subscribers.
“With more than 40% of the Australian population 14+ either intending to buy a new TV in the next 12 months or having bought one in the last 12 months, Australians’ of all ages are looking for a better experience watching TV during their leisure time.”
