For the eleven months to May 2010, 90% of Australians who took a flight with Air New Zealand in the last 12 months were ‘very’ or ‘fairly’ satisfied, compared with 89% for Singapore Airlines, 87% for Etihad Airways and 86% for Emirates. Although only 80% of Qantas customers on international flights were satisfied, this was still above the industry average (74%) for the period.

Jane Ianniello, Roy Morgan Research International Director of Tourism, Travel & Leisure, says:
“Traditional carriers that offer a full service tend to have much higher satisfaction ratings than low-cost carriers. Although Qantas is only eighth in terms of customer satisfaction ranking, it is still higher than the average satisfaction for International airlines. Tiger Airways has the lowest rating of the low cost carriers with only 34% satisfied. Even though Tiger Airways and other low cost carriers such as AirAsiaX and Jetstar have relatively low satisfaction ratings they have still maintained their market share.”
