REX Customers More Satisfied than those of Larger Domestic Carriers

Regional Express (REX) has rated highest in terms of customer satisfaction; above major domestic carriers Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar, according to the latest Roy Morgan Research Single Source data.
 

The April 2010 Roy Morgan Airline Satisfaction Report reveals 83.5% of Australians who took a flight with REX in the last 12 months were ‘very’ or ‘fairly’ satisfied, compared with 81.6% for Qantas, 80.3% for Qantaslink and 79.7% for Virgin Blue. Around two thirds of Jetstar customers (67.3%) and 57.1% of Skywest customers were satisfied. Only just over half of Tiger customers indicated they were satisfied with the carrier (51.1%).


Satisfaction with Domestic Airlines used in last 12 months




Jane Ianniello, Roy Morgan Research International Director of Tourism, Travel & Leisure, says:

“Regional airlines such as Regional Express and Qantaslink receive relatively high satisfaction ratings, demonstrating their ability to compete with the major domestic airlines.  Qantas has the highest satisfaction amongst the majors closely followed by Virgin Blue. Although Jetstar and Tiger Airways both lag behind in terms of customer satisfaction it has not prevented them growing their share of the domestic market.”



Roy Morgan Research has recently released a quarterly report on both domestic and international airline satisfaction. Also available are profiles of patrons of domestic and international airlines by business and holiday/leisure, these profiles provide a broad understanding of the target audience in terms of demographics, attitudes, activities and media usage.
