Jane Ianniello, Roy Morgan Research International Director of Tourism, Travel & Leisure, says:
“Australians are increasingly using airline websites for sourcing travel information and for booking holidays. Airlines have replaced travel agents as the main method of booking a holiday, with those booking through an airline mainly using the internet. Online-only travel booking websites such as webjet.com.au and wotif.com are also gaining popularity as a method of booking holidays.
"Although many traditional bricks-and-mortar travel agents are losing ground in terms of holiday bookings, Flight Centre has established a strong online presence and is performing better than its competitors.”
